What are zero-width tracking characters?

Invisible unicode tokens injected by some generative models that can corrupt data parsers or fail script compilations. PasteClean purges them silently.

Can PasteClean remove metadata from photos and PDFs?

Yes. It strips EXIF, GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, XMP and C2PA Content Credentials from JPEG, PNG and WebP images, and removes the author name, timestamps and XMP packet from PDFs. Images are free and unlimited; the first PDF is free.

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

No. PasteClean edits the file structure directly instead of redrawing the image, so the compressed pixel data is never decoded or re-encoded. The cleaned photo is byte-for-byte identical to the original, only smaller.

Does PasteClean remove AI watermarks?

It removes C2PA Content Credentials, which are metadata stored alongside the image. It cannot remove SynthID or similar watermarks that are encoded into the pixels themselves, and it cannot remove statistical watermarks embedded in AI-generated text. No browser-based tool can do either, and there is no evidence that assistants stamp hidden tracking IDs into the text they produce.
